Photographer, Humanitarian and Executive Director of Rebel Reform

Loretta Kryshak has spent much of her life bringing people, ideas and resources together. Her career has taken her from technology and business to photography, world travel and community service. Today, she serves as Executive Director of Rebel Reform, where she works with organizations and volunteers throughout southeastern Wisconsin to help address needs in the community.

Her path has not been a traditional one, and that's part of what has shaped the way she approaches her work.

From Business and Technology to Community Leadership

Before focusing much of her time on community work, Loretta built a career in business and technology.

Her professional background includes finance, Management Information Systems (MIS), consulting, project management and systems analysis. Working in those fields taught her how to manage complex projects, solve problems and, perhaps most importantly, bring different people together to accomplish a common goal.

Those skills eventually became just as valuable outside the corporate world.

Over the years, Loretta became increasingly involved in charitable projects and community organizations. What began as a desire to help grew into a much larger commitment and ultimately led to her leadership role with Rebel Reform.

As Executive Director of Rebel Reform, Loretta Kryshak helps develop and lead community initiatives throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Rebel Reform grew from the charitable efforts of Rebel Converting and the Kryshak family. The idea was simple: use the resources, relationships and capabilities available through the business community to help nonprofit organizations accomplish more.

Loretta works with nonprofits, businesses, community leaders and volunteers to identify needs and find practical ways to address them.

The work has included programs supporting people experiencing homelessness, bicycle and helmet giveaways, food assistance, children's programs and partnerships with organizations throughout the region. Rebel Reform has donated thousands of bicycles to children and has supported organizations addressing hunger and homelessness across southeastern Wisconsin.

One of the largest efforts came during the COVID-19 pandemic.

#MaskUpMKE

In 2020, Loretta and her husband, Michael Kryshak, became heavily involved in #MaskUpMKE, a community-wide effort created in response to the urgent need for face coverings during the pandemic.

Rebel Converting redirected manufacturing resources to produce mask materials, while Loretta helped generate awareness and bring organizations and volunteers together. The effort ultimately helped produce and distribute millions of masks throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

The initiative demonstrated what can happen when manufacturers, nonprofits, businesses and volunteers work toward the same goal.

It also reinforced something Loretta had already learned through years of community involvement: helping doesn't always require creating another organization or program. Sometimes the greatest impact comes from finding people who are already doing good work and giving them the resources they need to do more.

That philosophy continues to influence her work with Rebel Reform today.

Photography and a Life of Travel

Away from her community work, Loretta is an avid photographer and traveler.

She has traveled to all seven continents, photographing wildlife, landscapes, people and cultures along the way.

Her travels have taken her across Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia, South America, Europe and Antarctica, as well as throughout North America.

Photography gives Loretta a different way to experience those places.

Rather than simply passing through a destination, carrying a camera encourages her to slow down and notice the details: an expression, an animal's behavior, changing light across a landscape or an ordinary moment that tells a larger story about a place.

Wildlife and nature are among her favorite subjects, but her photography reflects the diversity of the places she has visited.

Her black-and-white photography from Antarctica received an Honorable Mention from the Monochrome Awards.

Travel With a Different Perspective

Travel has also influenced the way Loretta sees her work at home.

Visiting communities around the world provides perspective that can be difficult to gain from a distance. Different cultures may approach everyday life differently, but many of the things that matter to people are remarkably similar: family, opportunity, safety, dignity and a sense of community.

Those experiences have stayed with Loretta and continue to influence both her photography and her approach to humanitarian work.

Africa, in particular, left a lasting impression. The people, landscapes and wildlife gave Loretta a different perspective on community, human connection and the value of slowing down enough to truly observe the world around her.

Her photographs are not simply a record of where she has traveled. They are a record of what caught her attention while she was there.

Southeastern Wisconsin Is Home

Loretta may have traveled around the world, but southeastern Wisconsin remains home and the center of her community work.

Through Rebel Reform, Rebel Converting and partnerships with local organizations, she continues to support programs that provide direct assistance to individuals and families throughout the region.

Loretta believes businesses can play an important role in strengthening the communities where their employees and customers live.

That doesn't always mean writing a check.

Businesses have people, equipment, expertise, transportation, facilities, relationships and other resources that can become incredibly valuable when connected with the right nonprofit organization.

Much of Loretta's work involves helping make those connections.

Recognition for Community Leadership

Loretta's community involvement has received recognition from organizations throughout Wisconsin.

The Kryshak family and Rebel Reform received the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County's Gwen T. Jackson Community Service Award following their work supporting the #MaskUpMKE initiative.

In 2026, Loretta was also nominated for the Ozaukee Impact Awards' Nonprofit Emerging Leader of the Year, recognizing her leadership and work within the nonprofit community.

For Loretta, however, recognition has never been the reason for doing the work.

The real measure is what happens after people come together: a child gets a bicycle, a family receives needed assistance, a nonprofit reaches more people, or an organization gains resources it didn't have before.

What's Next

Loretta Kryshak continues to divide her time among Rebel Reform, community initiatives, photography and travel.

There will always be another place to photograph, another story worth telling and another opportunity to help someone closer to home.
